twisted pearl’s triumphant return this season offers chicagoland yet another program of questionable taste, one that is sure to gently roast the chestnuts of your heart before you can sheepishly whisper “santa, baby.” the musical works of this set were, in part, carefully selected at random. that said, in addition to two delightfully chipper baroque concerti, we’ve fittingly included a set of french noëls (christmas tunes!) by the decidedly mid french composer michel corrette, as well as some contemporary carol arrangements in the baroque style by conor lyons. we think they’re just perfect for the festive holiday season, and if you disagree, you probably shouldn’t be listening to music at all.
J.B. Chevalier de St-Georges (1745-1799) – Quartet in D
M. Corrette (1707-1795) – Sinfonie des Noëls in D
Evaristo Teresa della Ciaja (c. 1699-1758) – Concertino 2 in G
C. Lyons (1999-) – Christmas Medley
C.P.E. Bach (1714-1788) – Fantasia for Solo Flute
A. Corelli (1653-1713) – Concerto Grosso in D (Op. 6, no. 4)
J.B. de Boismortier (1689-1755) – Trio in D (Op. 37, no. 3)
