the modern caf\u00e9 is the apparently more practical successor to the original caf\u00e9s of baroque europe, which began to proliferate in the 1600s after coffee was first introduced to the continent by the turks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

unlike most modern caf\u00e9s, these baroque caf\u00e9s were built to accommodate extended community gatherings, where people with a whole lot of time on their hands would spend hours upon hours gossiping, reading, listening to live music, and of course, drinking plenty of coffee (which was a new and exciting fad at the time). the baroque caf\u00e9 was the place to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

life seems to have sped up since those days, and though most of us can\u2019t afford to sit for six hours spilling the village tea in a powdered wig, the coffee fad stuck around. we figured we ought to bring the music back too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
